Decorating with dough bowls is both fun and super easy! There are so many options for creating a stylish yet timeless look with dough bowls. Whether you choose an authenitic bowl or a reproduction there are many colors, shapes and sizes.
Size matters
The first thing you want to think about is where you are going to place the dough bowl when it’s complete. I know this sounds like an obvious “thing”, right? You would be surprised at the number of clients who come back to me and say “it wouldn’t fit in the place where I wanted it to go!”. One of the most important steps after deciding where you want it to go, would be to actually measure the space! Like really, pull out a tape measure and measure. If your plan is to put the dough bowl on a table that you use every day, make sure it fits comfortably without having to be moved each time you set your table. After all, what is the point of a fabulous centerpiece if you have to move it every time you use the space?
What's your theme
Once you determine the right size for the space you have, choose one thing you know that you want to incorporate into the bowl as your focal point or theme. It can be fruit, greenery, candles, a small sign, beads, and the list goes on.
Next, select some greenery or florals for the filler. You can use a minimal amount of the filler or, you can really fill it up depending on your style. You can also opt for no greenery or florals for a more minimalist approach.
Last step, add whatever your heart desires!
This could be…
Seashells for the beach crowd
Candles
Figurines
Beads
Cloches
Natural Bowl Fillers
Mini Signs
Or combinations including any of the above.
You could also incorporate seasonal florals. Some cute Summer ideas would be filling the bowl with greenery with lemons, mini potted florals with butterflys or candles. Red, white and blue is always a win for June and July celebrations!
As you can see, dough bowls are so versatile. They can be used in any space with any style or décor and they’re really easy to update! You could also have them as a stand alone with no decoration. They’re beautiful any way you choose! I’d be really excited to see your dough bowl creations, so if you make one, don’t forget to send me pictures!!
